Have you ever thought to yourself Where are the books on my bookshelf? or I know it’s in the closet, but I’m not sure exactly. Do you find yourself admiring organized spaces but think I don’t think that won’t work in my home?
I want to challenge you to create your own before-and-after picture of an area in your home that could use some TLC. Unfortunately, before-and-after pictures don’t depict the frustration and stress of the during part. Afterwards, though, it all pays off and you have a wonderful before-and-after picture of your own. Below are some tips.
1. Clear out the space. Take everything out of the closet, garage, drawer, cabinets, whatever area you are de-cluttering.
2. Have you ever looked at a “before” and “after” photo of a cluttered space and wondered where all the stuff in the “before” photo went? The stuff got sorted. Create sorting piles of your own. Some ideas for sorting piles include:
- Relocate to a new spot (you shouldn’t keep batteries on your bookshelf)
Remember: if you don’t need it, use it, or like it don’t keep it!
3. Decide how you want to re-organize and designate a location for each item. Put things back where they are visible and easy to access without causing a mess. This is easier said than done, as it depends on what you are organizing. Utilize bins, labels, caddies, and bags to help you.
It’s that simple! Share your own “before” and “after” picture with me at firstname.lastname@example.org!
