Last year’s Free Comic Book Day offering from DC Comics teased the “Trinity War,” this year’s upcoming summer event. Not much is known about the event other than it doesn’t revolve around DC’s “Big 3” (Superman/Batman/Wonder Woman) so much as it does the “Original Sinners” in the DC universe. The identity of one of the “Sinners” has been revealed to be Pandora, but the other two identities remain unknown.
The covers for Justice League, Justice League of America, and Justice League Dark all connect to show off the DC heroes squaring off against each other, apparently to chase after something in the possession of Pandora.
The details on the event are quite slim but Jim Lee discussed it a little in an interview with Comic Book Resources:
Without giving it away, ‘Trinity War' -- the word trinity resonates throughout the project on many, many levels and so in a sense there's almost three distinct parts. Well, almost three stories combined into one and then each part really redefines the universe in a really cool and unexpected way. There's a lot of really cool past stuff that's going to be revealed and a lot of new elements that are going to be added to the DC Universe. Again, paying off that initial premise of the New 52 which is we are going to continue to surprise you by allowing people to come in and join in and feel like they're getting in on the ground floor, and Trinity War is a continuation of that theme.
It looks like the world will have to just wait to find out more about the “Trinity War.” The event is set to kick off in July with the issues of Justice League #22, Justice League Dark #22, and Justice League of America #6.
