When Sony Online Entertainment announced the monthly subscription fee for DC Universe Online it came along with the expectation that they would add new content month to the PS3 and PC MMO to justify the price. With the game's first month almost up, SOE has put out the details and screenshots for the very first content update coming this month.
The new content is a mix of seasonal themed content along with permanent updates such as new missions, races and gear. There's also the debut of the brokering system which has been in the works for a while.
Feel the Love
The seasonal updates is a batle of love thanks to Wonder Woman and Circe upsetting the Goddess of Love, Aphrodite. Fountains will spring up all over Metropolis that act as portals to special 100 player instances where gamers can fight each other or shoot love arrows at NPCs to collect hearts. The hearts can then be used during the month of February to purchase and gift special items like chocolates and rings to other players.
The seasonal update will also feature a four-player instance that culminated in a battle against Aphrodite, Devotion, and Scorn as well as provide a new Jester outfit.
Catty Disposition
The biggest addition in the content update though is a brand new Level 30 episode featuring Catwoman and an ancient Egyptian curse. Players will chase Catwoman into a Gotham museum where her fiddling with ancient Egyptian relic turns guards and patrons into different breeds of cats including lions, tigers and cheetahs. There are five boss battles in all during this episode and ends with a Catwoman cutscene.
The level 30 mission is not the only new update that features Catwoman though as there is also a new rooftop race where players chase Catwoman and she will also be available in the PvP Legends mode. Players will also be able to attain Cat Burglar and Ancient Mayan gear.
More Stuff
Another new addition is an eight-player raid for the Batcave that lets players fight alongside Batman against Braniac and Brother Eye. There's also a two-player fight against Bane and a new open world PVP zone for Gotham City.
Finally, the auction house will open up in The Watchtower and the Hall of Doom to allow players to swap gear with each other.
