Tis the season, well the week at least. DC Summer Restaurant week is upon us! From August 11th to 17th over 200 plus local DC restaurants jazz up their menus and participate in multicourse lunch and/or dinner prix fixe menus. This joyous occasion comes to us twice a year, usually in January and in August.
For this summer session, while it would be a dream to review every establishment, there is not enough time (or stomach room) for one person to do such a feat! Throughout the week, there will be a daily (sometimes two) article showcasing a local restaurant participating in DC Restaurant Week. Each restaurant will be critiqued on the same scale. It goes as follows:
Service: Service all across the board, from the hostess to the waiter. Menu knowledge. If there is a wine/drink list, are they well versed enough to walk a patron through and help them make the right choice? Attentiveness and timeliness.
Food/Drink: Presentation as well as taste. Simple yet so important. Menu prices, is this a fancy night out on the town or a reasonably priced delicious meal?
Atmosphere: Is this a kid/family friendly place? Romantic date night? Good for a business meeting? What type of patron does this establishment best cater to? Is this establishment handicap accessible?
Overall Experience: Would this be a place that would be a good recommendation? Why or why not?
Restaurant Week is an awesome way for restaurants new and old to try new things and get their name out on the food scene. With the prix fixe menus, it’s a great way to try new dishes and find new local spots to love and share with all of your friends!
On your mark, get set, let’s eat! This should be delicious! Get up, get out and enjoy restaurant week!
