Washington, DC native Ron Saleh has, for years in the District, been the insiders go-to home stylist boasting such covetable clients such as VP Joe and Dr. Jill Biden, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Donna Karan and many more. He is often called on by international government leaders, powerful lobbying groups, domestic and foreign Ambassadors and more to both design their home décor and travel with their core teams to manage their dinner/meeting/hotel room set ups and other concierge needs in cities around the world.
But Saleh’s midas touch in home décor spans far beyond identifying trends and creating spectacular design schemes – his particular ability to read an individual’s personality and respond to it with feng shui type design is celebrated by those who have the great fortune of experiencing his work. Great care comes from his design and can include finishing touches like a series of framed family photos, a set table for a chic and welcoming dinner party and, yes, even a fridge stocked with all of the items you love or never knew you loved.
“For me it’s about tapping into a state of mind,” says Saleh. “I respond to what makes people feel happy and comfortable. I’m just so fortunate I was able to use that in a spatial sense. I think it all stems from my love of hosting and listening. I follow my muse Donna Karan's Urban Zen concept - to develop an environment that is calming and healing and connecting us to our loved ones.”
But Saleh’s star is about to rise, or at least shine brighter than it has in the past, in the eyes of the mass public. Recently he has been a competitor in the HGTV series Flea Market Flip and is set to become a household name based on his unique expertise and general humble likability.
“Ron has a special way of drawing you in and providing you with a familial comfort. Whether it’s your own home, a sterile hotel or his dining table, he can automatically create a sense of comfort in your surroundings,” says iconic designer Donna Karan, both a close friend and muse to Saleh.
Saleh now resides in the chic and “locals only” area of Sag Harbor, NY in a historical home complete with guest house and swimming pool all within walking distance to the town's main street stretch of restaurants and art galleries. His home has custom made furniture gifts, outdoor chandelier candle drippings and an air of “come and go” that local friends and their acquaintances take advantage of during the day stopping to have a bite to eat and lay in the sun. Saleh lives his life with an ease that attracts a bevy of high profile clients and locally based friends. But everyone leaves feeling like they had a slice of home. Albeit a lot chicer.
