In the early morning hours of this cold and icy Sunday, DC Health Link went above and beyond the call of duty to reach out to District of Columbia residents and to explain the importance of young adults getting health insurance and enrolling with DCHealthLink.com.

By recognizing that many strong, healthy, and young people often don’t feel the need to get health insurance because they are seldom sick, DC Health Link has identified one critical area of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Law requirements. President Barack Obama made it possible for young adults to remain on their parents insurance until age 26. The clause of the law that permitted parents to insure their children until age 26 was one of the popular aspects of the law. It was also important because with so many reason college graduates unemployed the new law permitted parents to protect their children as they the young adults search for work.

DC Health Link followed young adults this weekend to popular night spots and places where young people shop to meet these residents where they gather to provide information on health plans and to explain the requirements of the law. This unique outreach effort is one of a kind in the nation and continues to make DC Health Link one of the most progressive health insurance marketplaces in the nation.

DC Health Link employees went to Denny’s Restaurant from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. on Sunday December 15, 2013, for a special outreach to District of Columbia residents. The young adults at the District of Columbia Denny’s Restaurants and the Foot Locker located on 1060 Brentwood Road, NE, were able

The plan entailed having knowledgeable DC Health Link Assisters to encourage the younger generation to make appointments to enroll in affordable health insurance plans even though they are young, strong, and healthy and may feel that they do not need health insurance. “At the Air Jordan release the Assisters will meet hundreds of young men and women standing in lines anxious to be among the first to purchase the new Jordan sneakers. Assisters will walk the rope line and distribute information to enroll in affordable health insurance plans,” DC Health Link said.

At the Air Jordan release, the Assisters were scheduled to meet hundreds of young men and women standing in lines anxious to be among the first to purchase the new Jordan sneakers. Assisters walked the rope line to distribute information about the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and DC Health Link, the District’s new online marketplace for health insurance coverage.
