DC Critics Love '12 Years a Slave,' 'Gravity'

The Washington DC Area Film Critics Association has announced the results of their awards this morning, giving top honors to Steve McQueen's "12 Years a Slave." The film also received five other awards, including Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Ensemble, and Best Score.

Alfonso Cuaron's "Gravity" also made a great showing, taking Best Director, Best Cinematography, and Best Editing.

Other winners included the regular acting frontrunners we've already seen before (Cate Blanchett and Jared Leto), as well as Spike Jonze taking Best Original Screenplay for his excellent film "Her."

The next few days are when things really start heating up given that SAG announces their nominees on Wednesday morning and the HFPA announces the Golden Globe nominations on Thursday morning, so be sure to check back for the latest awards news.
