DC Comics Celebrates Superman's 75th Anniversary

Still super after all these years, The Man of Steel is still going strong after 75 years, and to celebrate DC has some special plans for the grandaddy of all superheroes.

Dc Comics is gearing up for a super year, with a host of projects to celebrate the Man of Tomorrow's 75th birthday, including a new titles by writer Scott Snyder and artist Jim Lee called Superman Unchained.

Superman Unchained will hit comic shops this June, just in time to catch the wave of super PR as The Man of Steel, starring Henry Cavill hits theaters. DC is also planning a bunch of comic book/movie tie-ins and merchandising to keep any Superman fan in pure nerdvana for the next 12 months.

In addition to Superman Unchained, DC will also be launching another Superman title, pairing Supes with the Dark Knight in Batman/Superman, written by Greg Pak with art by Jae Lee. B/S will tell the tale of how DC's big two came to be such good buds.

According to DC Comics artist/co-Publisher Jim Lee, the creators are not beholden to what's come before and are working from a clean slate to break new ground and speak to a new generation of readers.

So the big question is, will Superman still stand for truth, justice and the American way or will he now be a metrosexual, politically correct, defender of a united world order with no borders?

I guess we'll find out this June. Until then— Up, Up and Away!
