DC Comics 'Adam Strange' coming to theaters in 2013

"Adam Strange" is a science fiction character reminiscent of 50s comic book archetypes. The traditional love story of the superhero sci-fi characters comes through in the books of “Adam Strange.”

“Adam Strange” is coming to the big screen to add to the comic book hero genre. The character adheres to the established pattern of those men from Earth who have been summoned to the cosmos. Traveling to the planet Rann via the zeta beam, he finds the helmet and red suit that he is known by.

A Rannian scientist, Sardath, constructed the beam as a way of speaking to the inhabitants on planet Earth but instead of the beam, a teleportation machine evolved instead. The beam is a temporary planetary travel system and Adam would be sent back to Earth in due time. Adam also meets up with his future true love, Alanna.

The DC comic character is created by the same team that gave us “Justice League of America” (Gardner Fox and Mike Sekowsky).

The plot behind the film, if they stick with the original comic book story, will be Adam Strange being transported against his will, to an alien planet where he is soon known as a superhero. Although there are good elements of traveling to another planet, especially into the 20th century where science fiction examines jetpacks and ray guns, the hero has one constant – he cannot control where he will end up.

The movie will be in theaters on an unannounced date, as the film is now categorized as “in development.” “Adam Strange” is expected to end up in theaters at some point in 2013.

I have been a film critic for years. As a writer, I love to experience the writer's art as it comes alive on the screen.
