Finally the dust has settled from this past weekend’s adrenaline filled event at Maryland International Raceway in Mechanicsville, MD , otherwise known as the 14th annual WPGC DC Bike Fest. Each year this event just gets better and better. Being one of the leading radio stations in touching the community, WPGC continues to raise the bar with continuing to support the DC, Maryland and Virginia motorcycle community with this event. Motorcycle enthusiasts flocked down to see the superfast MIROCK races, custom bikes, stunt show held by Cycles of Silver Spring, concerts and the breathtaking bikini contest that is put on by the International Bikini Team.

The excitement lasts for 3 days. Along with the racing, there is a charity benefit for “Bikers Against Breast Cancer”, entitled “Paint The 1/4 Pink”. The program is for female riders only that will compete on drag bikes and street bikes in an effort to raise money toward breast cancer awareness. program run at the Bike Fest event to raise money for "Bikers Against Breast Cancer". This program is for female riders only competing on drag bikes and street bikes. Each year the program receives more recognition and participation. In addition to this event, Larry “Spiderman” McBride and Dave Vantine competed on track on two of the fastest bikes in world, completing the quarter mile in under 6 seconds at over 230 mph.

A feature of the bike fest that is great for the fans is the vendor midway that was completely sold out of vendor space and fully stocked with motorcycle parts, apparel, and accessories. Myrtle West Customs, Colemans Power Sports, Throttle Life Magazine, Automotive Rhythms, Shoe City and Mothers Polish just to name a few vendors that were on the scene. In the center of vendor midway Professional Drag racer Rickey Gadson and his wife Kiana Gadson, set up a memorial for fallen rider Aaron Slemker. Aaron had a motorcycle accident at the track earlier in the week and succumbed to his injuries.

The races, stunt show, custom bike and the bikini show were all a great site to see. The anticipation for next year is already looming. Enjoy the gallery.
