'DayZ' standalone adds massive wrecked cargo ship

Bohemia Interactive shared new details of the standalone version of DayZ Friday. The conversion from a popular ArmA II mod to a standalone PC game continues apace with the addition of a massive cargo ship for the zombie infested island of Chenarus.

"This shipwreck has a vast amount of enter-able space inside and we haven't decided exactly where it is going to be placed on Chernarus yet either so some of the pictures are taken from our test map which is bland/featureless and which we use for testing new buildings," DayZ production assistant Matt Lightfoot said on the game's forums.

It seems likely that this shipwreck would be placed somewhere just offshore of Chernarus where it may be a little difficult to get too but is still a worthwhile piece of real estate for player's to fight over.

Bohemia Interactive previously revealed various new buildings and villages it is adding to DayZ for the standalone release but this is possibly the most unique addition yet that will be a source of many in-game conflicts.

The DayZ development team also shared a video of the presentations it gave at PAX East and GDC earlier this year. You can check those out in our video gallery.
