DayZ inspired live action short nails it

If the zombie apocalypse were a real life catastrophe, then your day might a little something like this. Deja vu.

There are good days, there are bad days and then there are Dean Hall DayZ. While the hit mod transforms into a standalone title, the essence of the game’s experience has been brought to new light; the live action light.

Turns out that Minnesota, in the fall, has a striking resemblance to DayZ’s setting, minus the snow. Sam and Niko of Corridor Digital, a filmmaking duo out of Los Angeles, have taken their DayZ inspiration, along with this natural locale, and published one of the most well filmed DayZ shorts I’ve seen since they’ve began cropping up on youtube.

Anyone who has ever played DZ can relate to the footage with astounding certitude. Zombies are one thing, survivors are another and boy are they ever in 2012’s mod of the year. After 3 days of shooting, 9 minutes plus hail an impressive showing from Sasha Andreev - See Jane Run - and Paul Cram, a seasoned actor, familiar with the horror genre.

I could go on, but why ruin the fun of the next 9:43 of your life. See the world, After DayZ. Enjoy.
