Daytona Beach Police are looking for a red four-door car, possibly a Chevy Malibu, in connection with a shooting Friday morning. A report on the Police Department website says officers responded to George W. Engram Boulevard east of Nova Road due to a report of a person shot Friday around 1:44 a.m. Officers reported they found 24-year old Richard Dickerson near the fence along the Mitsubishi of Daytona property. Dickerson was transported to Halifax Hospital by EVAC ambulance for non-life-threatening injuries.

Red four-door car involved

Dickerson told police he had been riding his bike west on George W. Engram Boulevard when a red four-door passenger car pulled up and a person in the car asked for his bike. Dickerson says he kept riding and then a person in the car asked for the bike again. Dickerson said he stopped the bike and left it on the ground at that point, along with his wallet and mobile phone. He says the car door then opened and a person in the car shot him in the lower back with a revolver. Dickerson said he then ran east back towards Nova Road and called 911.

Daytona Beach Police say the description of the car matches that of a vehicle, a Chevy Malibu that was stolen earlier in the evening. Officers searched the area for the car, but were unable to find it.
