Anthony Hill was arrested on Wednesday afternoon in Deland, Florida and faces charges for stealing a seven-year-old child's dog as he walked his dog on Sunday towards West Taylor Road reported NewsDaytonaBeach.com.

According to Volusia County Sheriff's Office spokesperson, Brandon Haught, the child was walking his dog when a man stopped his silver Nissan and got out of the car telling the child that the red nose pit bull puppy with the white chest the little boy was walking belonged to him. (the stranger)

At that point, the man, now identified as Anthony Hill, took the dog's leash off and placed the dog in his car. He then left heading north. Witnesses saw the man take the dog from the child and were able to identify the suspect and his automobile.

The child's father, Anthony Cavallero, 44 called the Volusia County Sheriff's Office and reported the incident. According to the child's father, a neighbor had given the family the eight-month-old puppy a few days ago.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call contact Volusia County Sheriff's Office at 386-736-5999 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 888-277-8477 to possibly qualify for a cash reward.

"Even in the most remote chance that the dog was his," stated Carol Sanders of West Palm Beach, "why wouldn't the man just go to the police and report that was his dog, instead of stealing a dog from an innocent little kid?"

That is the question Carol we are sure many people want the suspect to answer.

The dog has been returned to the child.
