Daytona Beach firefighters were called out to a garage fire early Saturday evening in the 1200 block of Vine Street. Daytona Beach Fire Department spokesperson Lt. Larry Stoney says initial reports were that a car was being repaired in the garage of a home, when a loud pop was heard. The resident left the garage to get the car mechanic, and found heavy smoke coming from the garage on returning. Lt. Stoney says firefighters arriving on the scene reported heavy black smoke coming from the residence. However, he says firefighters confined the blaze to the garage by pushing the car out and extinguishing the flames. The fire was then contained to the garage without significant damage to the home. No one was injured according to Lt. Stoney, although EVAC ambulance crews responded to the scene as well.

Firefighters from Daytona Beach Fire Stations 4, 5 and 7 responded to the fire call, and Daytona Beach Police blocked the area of Vine Street south of 6th Street.
