Front desk staff at the Comfort Suites in Daytona Beach were unharmed but threatened by gunmen who held up the hotel early Wednesday morning. Daytona Beach Police were called to the hotel near I-95 and International Speedway Boulevard at around 12:40 Wednesday morning. A report on the Daytona Beach Police website says the gunmen kicked the door of the hotel open after the hotel manager tried to shut the door to keep them from entering. Police say one of the suspects then held a gun to the head of the manager and demanded money from the safe. The manager opened the cash drawer at the front desk, removed it and placed it on the counter, and one of the suspects took around $130 in cash from the drawer. An employee, the front desk clerk, was shoved to the ground behind the desk according to police, and told to go through her purse and surrender any cash, but she said she had no money in it. After taking the money from the cash drawer, the two suspects left.
