Jenn Geiss and her club are hosting the Florida Women’s “Scrummage” Scrimmage this Saturday afternoon, March 16, on the Chestnuts’ home pitch at Richard Petty Field in Daytona Beach, Fla.
This tournament, which kicks off at 2 p.m., will take place at 1604 Richard Petty Blvd, on the campus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach.
Which women’s clubs will play and when
According to Geiss, women’s clubs from around the state of Florida preparing to play in the Florida Women’s “Scrummage” Scrimmage include the hometown Daytona Chestnuts, along with clubs from Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa, and possibly Miami. Indiana University is also scheduled to send a squad to the tournament.
Geiss envisions a “round robin” format beginning around 2 p.m., where round one (two 20-minute halves) is followed by a 20 minute break. Round two begins after round one (another two 20-minute halves), with round three wrapping up the tournament.
