Born in Dayton, Ohio, Grammy® Award-nominated, Dove, Stellar, GMWA, NAACP Image Award-Winning Singer Dottie Peoples is set to perform “I Got This” as part of the 2013 Stellar Gospel Music Awards, which will be broadcast live on GMC TV for the first time from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, TN on Saturday, January 19 at 7 p.m.
The song she will perform is from her forthcoming album, I Got This - Live!, which will be released on February 5 through her independent label, DP Muzik Group with sales and distribution through Thirty Tigers/Sony/RED and Provident. The debut single "I Got This" is now available at iTunes and other digital music retailers.
"2013 is lining up to be a busy year," said Peoples in a press release, a day prior the Stellar Awards. "With my new CD, radio show, and many performances and events planned, my ministry is starting the year in an exciting way. I pray the Lord will use me and my music to encourage and inspire people this new year."
I Got This - Live! is a collection of 13 tracks featuring Peoples singing a variety of praise and worship, contemporary and traditional gospel music styles. The project was recorded at Siloam Church International in College Park, Ga. Highlights include the title track, "I Got This," "Everything Must Change," "Welcome" and "Manifest Your Glory," among others. Peoples will also perform on Bobby Jones Gospel on February 17. Hosted by Kirk Franklin and Mary Mary, other performers on the Stellar Awards will include Amber Bullock, Anita Wilson, Byron Cage, Pastor Charles Jenkins & Fellowship Choir, Delores Washington, Donnie McClurkin, Dorothy Norwood, Israel Houghton & New Breed, Jason Nelson, Kierra Clark Sheard, The Kurt Carr Singers, LeAndria Johnson, Marvin Sapp, Marvin Winans, Mary Mary, Maurette Brown Clark, Shirley Caesar, Tamela Mann, Tye Tribbett, and Y’Anna Crawley.
Presenters for the evening will include Andrae Crouch, Ambassador Dr. Bobby Jones, Donald Lawrence, LeToya Luckett, Lexi, Michelle Williams, Rance Allen, Rockmond Dunbar, Shawn Thompson, VaShawn Mitchell, Wess Morgan, and William Murphy.
During the evening, Inez Andrews will be posthumously awarded the “Ambassador Dr. Bobby Jones Legends Award.” In regard to other honorees, Bishop T.D. Jakes will receive the “Thomas Dorsey Notable Achievement Award” for his noteworthy accomplishments in 2012. Kurt Carr will also be honored with the “James Cleveland Lifetime Achievement Award" for his many contributions to the Gospel music industry and its genre over the course of his 22-year career.
In addition to the live broadcast on Saturday night, the show will once again air in national broadcast syndication in over 200 television markets from January 19 to March 3, 2013.
The Stellar Awards live show at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, TN is open to the public and tickets are available through Ticketmaster (http://www.ticketmaster.com).
