It's hard to believe that the Fourth of July AKA Independence Day is a mere week away! While many already have made their plans for the holiday, others are still trying to decide how to celebrate. To help make the decision a little easier, here is a list of area celebrations. This list is in no way complete and I invite readers to leave a comment after the article of events that were inadvertently overlooked.

  • June 27th, Freedom’s Call Celebration Fireworks, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, 10pm
  • June 28th, Star Spangled (Huber) Heights Fireworks Display, Cloud Park, dusk
  • July 1st-4th, West Milton 4th of July Festival, West Milton Community Park, 3-11pm daily
  • July 3rd, Fairborn Block Party, downtown Fairborn/Main Street, 4-10pm
  • July 3rd, July 4th 5k Walk/Run, Wax Park Moraine, 6-9pm
  • July 3rd, Lights in Flight: Festival and Fireworks, Riverscape/downtown Dayton, 5pm. Fireworks to begin at 10pm above downtown on the banks of the Great Miami River
  • July 3rd, Vandalia Star Spangled Celebration, Vandalia Sports Complex/1101 Stonequarry Road, 10pm
  • July 4th, 49th Annual 4th of July Car Show and Swap Meet, Greene County Fairgrounds in Xenia, 8am-3:30pm
  • July 4th, July 4th Parade in Troy, route: Staunton Rd. to Market St. to Main St. to Adams St., 9-11am
  • July 4th, Annual 4th of July Parade, downtown Fairborn/Main Street, 10am
  • July 4th, West Milton 4th of July Parade, begins at 701 S. Miami St and goes up St. Rt. 571, 11am-1pm
  • July 4th, Centerville Americana Festival: 10am Parade at Franklin Street, Festival along N. Main Street, Fireworks at Centerville High School-entertainment begins at 8:30pm; fireworks at 10pm
  • July 4th, Ole Fashioned 4th Games, George Rogers Clark Park in Springfield, 2-5pm
  • July 4th, July 4th Community Night Celebration in Tipp City, Old Tippecanoe Historical District, 6-10pm
  • July 4th, 4th of July Festivities in Yellow Springs, downtown Yellow Springs, parade starts at 3pm and fireworks end at 10:30pm
  • July 4th, Rock-N-Boom, Delco Park in Kettering, 6-10pm
  • July 4th, West Alexandria Celebration Picnic in the Park, Peace Park/100 Education Lane, 10pm
  • July 4th, Englewood Fireworks, Centennial Park, 7-10:30pm
  • July 4th, Tipp City 4th of July Fireworks, City Park in Tipp City, 10pm
  • July 4th, Troy’s July 4th Fireworks, along the Great Miami River Levee, 10pm
  • July 4th, Moraine Fireworks, Wax Park, 10pm
