Daytime Fans Thrilled All My Children is Back but Still Boycotting ABC

With the event of this past week that indeed, All My Children did go back into production in its new home Studio in Connecticut, I spent some time talking to daytime drama fans online and this is what I have learned.

Now that they have succeeded in helping get the shows, All My Children and One Life to Live back in production, they are continuing to be very active in the movement to get them back on network or cable television. They also inform me that they have no intention of resuming their previous loyalty to ABC as ABC has no loyalty to them.

They are still boycotting not only ABC but also Disney in general from Disney products to Disney movies, television shows and Disney Vacations. I asked some of these folks how they were feeling about ABC, the shows being back in production and their boycott on ABC/D as they refer to it and this is what they had to say:

My name is Vicki. I live in Port St. Lucie, FL.... I won't watch ABC ever, except for GENERAL HOSPITAL! The way they treated not only the fans of AMC & OLTL, but the actors and others who worked for them..... So, yeah, I'm still boycotting!!!!!

My name is Melissa. Yes, I am still boycotting all things ABC/D, except for General Hospital, because of how they treated us!! From Santa Maria, Calif.

Jennifer, I continue to support the boycott of ABC programming. They should've never canceled the shows in the first place.

My name is Shari live in St. Charles, Mo. I will boycott ABC because of the fact that these shows should have never been canceled first off and they wouldn’t listen to us & the way ABC/Disney treated us fans, actors and everyone was just totally wrong!!! P.S. They still are working against the soap fans. These shows should be back on TV and they know it. They are refusing to share history, story and actors!!! OLTL lives on!

Tammy N.Y. It’s simple courtesy, if ABC can't appreciate nor support their viewers and feels ok to disrespect them, why on earth should we give them anything? They saw the damages, they dug a deeper hole, & hide there with the Mother Rat holding their cheese! GH is the only time I will give ABC/D my support!

Debbie from Fontana,CA. Yes I'm still boycotting D/ABC with exception on GH. I agree with all the posts. They put so many people out of work. They didn't care about the loyal fans for over 40 years. ABC was the only network I watched up until soap cancellations.

Hi My Name Is Theresa From Philadelphia I Will Not Watch ABC Ever Except For General Hospital. They Don't Care About Us. They Treated Us Horrible, Threw Our Iconic Soaps out like They Were Trash So As Far As I Am Concerned That Channel No longer Exists in My House except One Hour a Day

My name is Susan and I'm from Canada and I still boycott everything ABC/ Disney. I will never forget or forgive. I had watched AMC for over 34 years. It was my small escape. I don't turn the TV on in the afternoon anymore.

My name is Samantha Parker and I am from Birmingham, Alabama. I am still continuing my boycott for much of the same reasons as my friends here in this group. We all agree that (even soap fans not in this group) we were just disregarded as "kooky soap opera fanatics" when I believe that we were ABC's most loyal viewers once. None of us ever missed a day; we had to find out what happened next in our stories. It didn't matter whether we were happy with the storyline or not, WE STILL TUNED IN. Once ABC decided to remove our stories with much of the same parade of talk/lifestyle/reality shows everyone else produces, they basically slapped all of us in the face. That is why I continue my boycott. Thank you for your time.

My name is Brenda and I am from Albuquerque area, New Mexico. I agree with everything that you said Samantha and could not say it any better.

Troy Lee Turner - Denver, Colorado. While we all have done a measure of boycotting, and are over the moon that AMC/OLTL are returning-we also realize the fight continues until both shows are back on TV somewhere where they belong

This is just a small snippet of responses to my question, are you still boycotting. It has been a year and a half since the last air date of All My Children from ABC and just about 2 years since ABC made the announcement that they were cancelling the shows.

The online movement continues its letter writing campaigns, boycotting of ABC and sponsors products while The Young and the Restless, Bold and the Beautiful and Days of Our Lives have enjoyed an increase in viewership and fan base.

The show that replaced One Life to Live was canceled less than six months after its first airdate and the show that replaced All My Children continues to do poorly in the ratings.

I will not dignify either show my naming them, nor will I give honor to the previous head of ABC daytime by naming him. One has to wonder what was really going on at ABC two years ago when this decision was made. The guy that was at the helm at that time is long gone so maybe it is time for ABC to shake it off and bring the shows home so the fans can come home to ABC.
