Could history be made at this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards? Maybe. The 41st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards which will be live-streamed at on Sunday Night, June 22nd beginning at 8:00 p.m. EST/5:00 p.m./PST. There’s a good chance that actress Heather Tom will win her sixth Emmy that night, marking three years in a row as lead actress. Tom portrays Katie Logan Spencer on CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful.” Should Tom win, the actress would tie Erika Slezak of “One Life to Live’s” record as the Daytime Emmy Awards most celebrated actress.

Tom grew up in front of soap audiences when she joined “The Young and the Restless” as a teenage Victoria Newman and later as Katie on “B and B.” During her “The Young and the Restless” years, Tom picked up multiple nominations for the role and a win for Outstanding Younger Actress. Upon joining “The Bold and the Beautiful,” as Katie Logan Spencer, Tom graduated to the Outstanding Supporting Actress Category with a win for her powerful scenes as a young mother struggling from post-partum depression.

Tom is now officially one of the show’s leading actresses and has dominated the category for the last few years with consecutive wins for the last two years. Nominated again, this time against her “The Bold and the Beautiful” co-star Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke Logan Forrester), Eileen Davidson (Kristen DiMera, “Days of our Lives”) and Arianne Zucker (Nicole Walker, “Days of our Lives”), Tom could very well take home another Emmy in the race of very strong performances. This year, Tom’s Emmy reel contains scenes at Brooke’s birthday party where Katie finds out about Brooke and Bill’s affair.

Daytime TV Examiner caught up with Tom this week to her thoughts on her nomination, what it would mean if she won and how happy she for her co-star Lang who has her first nomination the Outstanding Lead Actress in Drama Series.
