General Hospital” has been gaining popularity and the ratings are proof of the solid fanbase. Several actors from various shows have been rumored to be headed to Port Charles, but so far only Michelle Stafford has arrived. Billy Miller and Michael Muhney are other names being tossed around, and both are from “The Young and the Restless,” where Stafford came from. According to a July 9 report from Soap Opera Digest, Alison Sweeney is headed to “General Hospital,” though it isn't for what fans may think. Sweeney recently left her long-time role of Sami on “Days of Our Lives.”

Fans first wondered who Alison Sweeney was going to play on “General Hospital,” but she isn't joining the team as an actress. It looks like Sweeney will be directing episodes of the show. She has observed before and when a position opened, Frank Valentini extended an invite and Sweeney accepted. Her directorial debut will happen sometime this month.

The news of Alison Sweeney heading to “General Hospital” was shocking. No rumors had been circulating before the announcement, which is quite unusual in this business. Sweeney has yet to comment on her new job, but fans expect something to be said on Twitter at some point today. Sweeney likes to keep her fans in the know by tweeting out things that are important.

Fans of “General Hospital” are interested to see how Alison Sweeney will do behind the scenes. She was part of the super-couple “Ejami” on “Days of Our Lives,” so her experiences in front of the camera will help her direct. There are plenty of pointers Sweeney can give some of the “General Hospital” actors from her years of experience. While the exact date of the episode she is directing has not been confirmed, it is definitely happening sometime this month. Fans are supportive of the change and wish Sweeney luck on her new journey.
