Dayna Morales is no longer employed as a server at the Gallop Asian Bistro restaurant in Bridgewater, New Jersey after an investigation into the anti-gay receipt matter was left “inconclusive,” according to an NBC report on Sunday.
The restaurant which employed Morales wished her well, and parted ways with her following the incident in which the server claimed a patron at the restaurant left an anti-gay message on her receipt instead of a tip. Days later, the alleged anti-gay customers proved that they not only didn’t write the offensive note on the waitress’ receipt, but that they left an $18 tip on the bill for $93.55 as well. The customer even produced charge card documentation that proves they tipped – and their copy of the receipt which shows the tip amount without a note scribbled on it.
Since the incident, Morales’ acquaintances have told several stories as to how Morales has told untruths and exaggerations in the past which put her in a “woe-is-me” light. Her stories involved being subjected to negativities which apparently didn’t occur while she was in the Marines as well as in domestic situations involving tragedies.
As far as the anti-gay note on the receipt is concerned, Morales has stuck to her story that someone wrote the message on the receipt and she never saw the tip.
Morales received thousands of dollars via a PayPal account and donations sent to the restaurant after the first report of Morales’ story. Morales claimed at the time that she would donate some of the donations to the Wounded Warrior Project. There is no word as to how much – if any - of that money actually went to the charity, though one previous report which alleged that the charity never received anything from Morales. On Friday it was learned that persons who made a donation to Morales via the PayPal online account were being refunded their money. Money donated directly to the restaurant was being held at the restaurant until the end of the investigation. Now that the investigation is over, it is not known what will be done with that money.
Avoiding the word “fired” throughout the process, the Gallop Asian Bistro’s Facebook page states that both Ms. Morales and Gallop Asian Bistro have made a joint decision that Ms. Morales will no longer continue her employment at the restaurant. It goes on to say that the restaurant is dedicated to providing excellent Asian cuisine and superior service, and basically has faith in the restaurant’s management and staff to carry on.
So ends the story of Dayna Morales – one would think.
