At least, it will for some of us. According to AppleInsider, some of iOS 7 users whose clocks turned back an hour overnight are seeing the time displayed incorrectly inside of the iPhone's built-in calendar app. While looking at the calendar's day view, the bar representing what time it is will appear in the appropriate position, but it'll reportedly display a time that's one hour behind. No issue reported with the alarms going off an hour late like in 2010.
It's sleep disturbance time because of the shift. Dr. Carol Ash, Director of Sleep Medicine for Meridian Health in New Jersey has a few ideas to help get a good night's sleep. A warning to geeks follows.
Set Your Internal Alarm: The timing of sleep is critical for a good night sleep and keeping the same wake up time everyday helps to set your biological clock that controls rhythms for wake and sleep. When you must make a shift due to a schedule change or Daylight Saving Time, start early. If you plan ahead and adjust your time to bed and wake up time by 15 minutes a night, the transition will be much easier.
Be Anti-Social: The screens from gadgets can emit blue light that suppresses the sleep hormone melatonin causing alertness, so forget about social media before bed. Keep the room quiet, dark, and cool, creating a calm sanctuary.
Now, here's a new gadget that might help. It's not just the time shift, Daylight Savings Time makes waking up even more difficult, since it is a sign that the days are getting even shorter and darker. The new Philips Wake-up Light is designed to simulate the sunrise for a more natural wake-up experience. It simulates a natural sunrise by gradually increasing in brightness 30 minutes before the alarm is set to go off, signaling the body to transition from sleep to waking up and providing a more natural and energizing way to get out of bed. The Philips Wake-up Light is available in four different models, ranging from $69.99 - $169.99. Each model has a sleek and stylish design and can serve as a bedside lamp, with 10-20 different light settings.
