Daylight Saving Time 2013 ends this weekend on Sunday morning at 2 a.m., so it is time to “fall back” an hour. When Daylight Saving Time ends on the first Sunday of every November, you gain one hour and according “Fox and Friends” live on Friday Nov. 1, there is a lot of things you can do with the extra hours besides sleep!
The NJ.com website on Nov 1 asks how you might spend that extra hour. Again, because that extra hour is at 2 a.m., many believe they sleep that extra hour away, but you will have an extra hour on Sunday morning if you get up an hour earlier than you usually do. You will still have had the same hours of sleep, but now that extra hour is yours to spend however you wish!
NJ.com took a poll and a whopping 78% are opting for one extra hour of sleep. A few of the other answers were:
Cook an extravagant breakfast 5.88%
Rake the lawn 3.53%
Catch up on television 2.35%
Start Christmas shopping 2.35%
This last idea is worth an online search as this weekend Walmart and a few other of the big box stores rolled out their early bird sales pre-Black Friday 2013.
Walmart in particular has their online sale starting at midnight Friday and they really do have great deals. HDTV’s ultra-slim have prices cut so low that its feasible to get one for everyone on your list. They offer a tablet for $49 and a 40-inch HDTV for $249.
The shopping season is shorter than usual by six days this year and according to NBC News, the stores are making up for it by starting their sales earlier and slashing prices pre-Black Friday sales, like Walmart, who starts their sale this weekend online. J.C. Penny is offering an extravaganza this weekend.
Maybe taking that extra hour you pick up from Daylight Saving Time and doing a little bit of online shopping with your second cup of coffee, isn’t such a bad idea after all!
