Many parents today drop off their children in daycare centers and go to work, expecting their children to be well-cared for. One would think this would be the case. WKYC reported a worker at ABC Kidz daycare center in Elyria had raped at least two babies and filmed one of the crimes.
The Ohio daycare worker has been arrested and is facing two counts of rape. Police report that there is a video on her laptop of the sexual conduct with one of the infants in the center. Police are investigating the incidents and have uncovered another case.
Heather Koon, 25, had the video on her laptop. Police found the laptop and video where her boyfriend, James Osborne resides. Osborne is a registered sex offender and he and Koon were arrested on October 4. They are both being held at the Lorain County Jail.
Further reports on this case were released today. Prosecutors state they have strong evidence against Koon. It has been stated by the prosecutors that her victims were between the ages of 1 and 2 years of age.
After her arraignment, Koon’s bond was set at $2 million. Each charge held a bond of $1 million.
Parents of other daycare children are terrified their kids may have been victims as well. Andrea Lankey, mother of a 2-year-old daycare child, states:
He doesn’t like his diaper being changed. He doesn’t like being touched. When I used to drop him off there he used to scream so bad that he would be like hyperventilating.
The ABC Kidz daycare center is compiling a list of children that were under Koonz’ care. The center states they do not believe there are more victims but want to be certain.
The father of one victim told the local news station that he received a phone call from the daycare center and they acted like it was a simple assault. The father, who wishes to remain anonymous, says the center called a while later and asked if the incident could remain discreet.
