Being in Florida is a wonderful thing in the spring time – especially for baseball fans. There are several locations with day-trip opportunities for Jacksonville area enthusiasts. If you want a chance to meet your favorite players, get some autographs, and enjoy baseball the way it use to be, a Spring Training game is the way to go.
The Atlanta Braves pitchers and catchers are already in Lake Buena Vista (Orlando) preparing for the 2012 season. The games start March 3 and run through April 2. The Atlanta Braves are a part of the Grapefruit League (which also includes the Philadelphia Phillies, Baltimore Orioles, Houston Astros, St. Louis Cardinals, New York Mets and more). Their training facility is Champion Stadium at Disney's Wide World of Sports, which has over 9,500 seats, four luxury sky boxes, and multiple open-air suites and patios; the double-decker stadium offers all the amenities of the major league ballparks. Stadium seats, bleachers and a grassy knoll provide fans numerous seating options. There is an open-air concession area on the lower concourse, on the first base side of the stadium.
General parking is free, and the stadium is open approximately 90 minutes prior to the game. Fans can line up for autographs before and after games and workouts.
For a real treat, Individual guests can purchase tickets to take in a Braves game from the comfort of an indoor, air-conditioned hospitality suite. This is your chance to experience corporate-level hospitality at a fraction of the price!
Suite Day at the Park Ticket Includes:
· Reserved seat to an Atlanta Braves Spring Training game
· Traditional ballpark menu including hamburgers, hot dogs, peanuts, popcorn, and assorted brownies.
· Beverage service of water and sweet tea
For those wanting to make this more than a day trip, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, the Magic Kingdom, Sea World, and Universal Studios are all nearby.
Lake Buena Vista is located in the southwest corner of Orlando.
Take I-4 to Hwy 192 West and follow signs to Magic Kingdom/Wide World of Sports, right onto Victory Way. Directions at Disney World are abundant, but there's no signage that points the direction to the ballpark. Instead, follow the signs to Wide World of Sports.
