For those of you who read this blog on a regular basis, you know about my passion for pie. You also know that my favorite pie-specialty shop is Achatz Homemade Pie Company. Well, what could be better than FREE pie at my favorite shop? I can hardly think of a thing short of world peace.
Achatz has completely remodeled their shop in Armada on North Avenue (Fulton Street) just north of 35 Mile Road (Armada Center). The difference is stunning. What was once a simple counter and tiny retail center (large enough for two or three customers to turn in their spot on the floor and browse) has become an open, lovely store with a seating area for the new coffee/cappuccino bar and a full length display case that shows off the beautiful traditional and specialty pies, pot pies, and breads.
The first FIFTY people who attend the grand opening of the remodeled store will receive a free slice of pie each week for a year. (If you’d like to meet me in person, you’ll find me in that line!) In addition, you can enter a drawing to win a membership in Achatz’ Pie-of-the-Month Club that provides members with a free pie each month for a year (a $180 value and my idea of nirvana.) In addition to the wonderful pies, Achatz will be selling coffee for a buck a cup, and slices of hot pot pies, tea, and cups of soup for $2.
Take this little day trip – Sunday, January 17, 2010. Hours for this event: 8:00 – 5:00. You’ll be so glad you did.
By the way, if you’d like to take a pie to your New Years’ gathering, Achatz is offering a Buy One, Get One Half-Off offer on December 31. What a thoughtful gift to give to your last hostess of 2009!
