Day one in the books at Eagles Bend

The 26th Mid-Amateur Championship hosted by the Kansas Golf Association began play in the 36-hole event at the Eagles Bend Golf Course in Lawrence, Kan. on Saturday May 3. Eagles Bend is a par 72 championship course that ranges from 5,471 yards from the forward tees to 6,819 yards at the back tees.

In the Overall bracket gross results, Zac Burton posted a seven under par 65 to finish day one in first place. Jon Troutman of Spring Hill, Kan. finished one stroke back at 66 to hold second place. Third place at two under par resulted in a tie between Kit Grove of Lawrence, Kan., Brent Millikan of Overland Park, Kan., and Michael Greene of Overland Park, Kan. In net scoring Andy Black of Kansas City, Mo. finished with an adjusted score of eight under par for first place. Burton dropped to second with the seven under par and Rob Werling moved to third at six under par.

In the 25 to 34-age bracket gross scoring Brent Milliken shot a two under par 70 tieing Michael Green for first place. Third place resulted in a tie between Jack Courington of Wichita, Kan. and Rob Werling of Lenexa, Kan. at one under par 71. Werling moved to first place in net scoring with a six under par 66. Milliken dropped to second place tied with Nick Peterson of Olathe, Kan. at two under par.

The 35 to 49-age bracket gross scoring resulted with Zac Burton in first place at seven under par and Jon Troutman one back at six under par for second. Third place went to Kit Grove at two under par. In net scoring Andy Black of Kansas City, Mo. moved to first place at eight under par and Zac Burton dropped to second at seven under par. Troutman finished in third place at five under par.

Scott Richey of Parkville, Mo. shot a one over par 73 in the 50 and older age bracket gross scoring to finish day one in first place. Ed Walsworth of Fairway, Kan. and Charlie Schorgl of Leawood, Kan. shot three over par to tie for second. Willie Scott posted an adjusted score of two under par to take first place in net scoring after day one. Patrick Foreman of La Cygne, Kan. moved to second place at one under par and Walsworth dropped to third tied with Terry Kingsley of Park City, Kan.

Day two begins on Sunday morning at Eagles Bend.
