It's the end of day one of the Diagon Alley preview event at Universal Orlando Resort, and I haven't seen the new Harry Potter area yet, but it's been an extremely full and fun day. Click the sideshow accompanying this article for some scenes from the onsite Universal hotels, my culinary tour of the new CityWalk restaurants, a Blue Man Group show, and goodies waiting for me back in my room at Cabana Bay when I returned to crash.
I got to see a Minion room, complete with actual live Minions who were on hand for the media, and I sampled everything from hot dogs to razor clams. I enjoyed the antics of the Blue Men and had a chocolate frog waiting for me when I got back to my room. Life doesn't get much better than that!
Tomorrow will be the first time I see Diagon Alley in person and experience the new rides, shops, and other exquisite details. Before that, I'll learn more about what's in store at Universal now that this major project is done, and I'll experience some of the other rides, like Transformers and Revenge of the Mummy. Of course, as an annual pass holder, I've experienced them many times before, but I never get tired of them.
Follow me on Twitter via @themeparkwriter and check back to my Examiner column for my first impressions and full review of Diagon Alley. I suspect it's going to be pretty darned impressive (how can it not be, with a fire breathing dragon perched up on a rooftop?).
