The Day Of The Doctor is coming. The Doctor Who 50th anniversary special is coming to a TV near you. And it’s coming on Nov 23. Here in America it will be aired on BBCAmerica. Of course, that doesn’t help the millions of Whovians who are suffering from withdrawls now. But, maybe this trailer will!
Some of us are seeing double. Some of us are suffering from light-headedness. Others have gone completely stark raving mad already. There is no hope for them. Those ones are lost to us.
But, for the rest of us, who aren’t too far gone gone into our madness to save yet, there is this short, but epic trailer. (see video)
What can we expect to see on Nov 23? We still aren’t completely sure. Show runner, Steven Moffat, has kept things close to the vest, as well as outright lied. This is fact he’s made no bones about. There are, however, a few things we do know.
First, we know that in the Day Of The Doctor we’ll see the Time War. No, not just see hints and fractions, but actually see it. We’ll see Gallefrey. We’ll see millions of Daleks fighting millions of Time Lords. We’ll finally get to see what happened.
In Day Of The Doctor we’ll find out that the ‘Hurt Doctor’, played by John Hurt, did that was so wrong. Whatever he did he didn’t do it in the name of the Doctor. It seems it doesn’t matter what it was that he did, what act he committed. It was the fact that he didn’t do it in the name of the Doctor that matters. And we’ll get to find out what that was.
We know that it will be broadcast around the world, in 75 countries, all at the same time! That’s right, Day Of The Doctor will be taking on TV on a global scale. According to Doctor Who Magazine:
The 75-minute episode will be shown in both 2D and, where available, 3D. In addition to the TV broadcast, hundreds of cinemas in the UK and across the world will simultaneously screen the episode in full 3D.
We know that David Tennant and Billie Piper will be reprising their roles of the 10th Doctor and Rose Tyler. There is also rumor that the classic Doctors will also be making appearances, which would be a feat of grand technology, given that half of the actors have passed away.
Just over a month to go now. If you haven’t gone stark raving mad yet, watch the trailer and hope.. pray that tides you over.
