The day after Christmas sales are coming! Just when you thought it was over, guess again. Tomorrow, Dec. 26 is also one of the busiest shopping days of the year, and for good reason.
With many retailers slashing prices and millions of dollars in gift cards sold this holiday season, tomorrow is almost like a post Black Friday event as online stores like Amazon will be slashing items up to 70% off.
If this were the Olympics, tomorrow would be considered the closing ceremonies on the the 2013 holiday shopping season.
According to a Freep.com report on Dec. 25, some stores, including Walmart and Kohl's stores, will open on Thursday as early as 5 a.m. The crowds may not be as big early on, but retailers are hoping to cash in once again.
"This is an especially big time for people who got gift cards to come and spend on what they didn't get for Christmas," says Sarah McKinney, a Walmart spokeswoman. Indeed, it's the single most popular day to redeem Target gift cards, says spokesman Antoine LaFromboise.
According to Freep.com reports, some of tomorrow's deals include:
■ Buy one, get one free. Macy's rolls out buy one, get one free deals on many men's dress shirts and designer suits, says spokeswoman Elina Kazan.
■ Cheap appliances. Sears is offering up to 40% off on appliances for shoppers who use their Sears card to purchase appliances over $499, says spokesman Brian Hanover.
■ Half-price toys. Target, hit by a credit card and debit card breach that affected up to 40 million consumers, plans sales of up to 50% off select toys and 40% off thousands of apparel items.
