The day-after Christmas sales 2013 edition will include some of the top retailers including Amazon website, as well as Best Buy, Walmart and Target, retail stores or online sites as they look to offer more attractive deals to shoppers. With Christmas just a day away and many individuals looking for those late year-end deals, they’ll want to keep an eye on who will be open when, and what sorts of deals are being offered.
A Dec. 23 USA Today report notes that Amazon’s after-Christmas 2013 sale is going on right now. There will be site-wide discounts including up to 70% off on various clothing, shoes, watches and jewelry. The site is also indicating discounts of up to 60% off in the TV, audio, video, home office, movies and outdoors categories, and up to 40% off on select toys, video games and software, among other items. Shoppers can access the site 24/7, with free shipping available on items or orders totaling $35 or more, or with the Amazon Prime membership benefit of free two-day shipping.
While most retail stores close early on Christmas Eve and very few are open on Christmas Day, that doesn’t mean there won’t be in-store sales going on for Dec. 26. Target is continuing to do damage control in the wake of the recent data breach that affected 40 million credit card accounts. Unfortunately, the retailer will need to offer customers quite a bit of incentive to get them into the stores, as their sales have slipped since the incident, while competitors, such as Walmart and Kohls, have seen their numbers increase over last year’s Saturday before Christmas.
As of this report, Target, Best Buy and Walmart have yet to offer up any specifics on what might be on sale the day after Christmas 2013. The Best Buy website is reporting they’ll be open on Christmas Eve from 7 a.m. EST through 6 p.m. EST, and that they currently have Xbox One game systems available for purchase, as well as Kindle Fire HDX tablets starting as low as $199.99. The electronics retailer’s Deal of the Day items for Dec. 23 include select DVD or Blu-ray discs, an HP desktop computer for just $249.99, an Insignia 32” class LED 720p HDTV, and more. Some might even be available in stores for pickup.
The Walmart site is offering a page of last-minute eGift cards which can be used online for their various deals. In addition, their value of the day is a $109 RCA 19-inch 720p 60Hz television. The website only has a sales flyer which runs through Christmas Eve 2013. Hours are likely to differ by stores for Christmas Eve, with the website reporting they are open 12 a.m. EST through 8 p.m. EST in Roanoke, Virginia on Dec. 24, closed on Christmas Day, and open for 24 hours the day after Christmas, Saturday and Sunday.
Analysts believe that retailers could see a good bit of spending from customers after Christmas, although it's hard to predict at this point. However, with lots of individuals receiving electronics items that have accessories, or video game systems that need games, expect buyers to be looking for those enticing deals online or at the stores.
