Today's pick for 31 days of 80s horror on Netflix is a favorite, "Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn." Unlike "Evil Dead," this film seemed to be funnier but it didn't skipped out on the gore or horror though. "Evil Dead II" was directed by Sam Raimi and starred Bruce Campbell (he's Ash, the main guy) Sarah Berry, Ted Raimi, and Denise Bixler. The film was released in 1987.
Ash: [talking to mirror] I'm fine... I'm fine...
[Mirror Ash jumps out of the mirror and grabs Ash]
Mirror Ash: I don't think so. We just cut up our girlfriend with a chainsaw. Does that sound "fine"? (IMDb)
Campbell is pure gold as Ash, he's your ever day man who is thrown in a pit of horror. The film has Ash take his girlfriend Linda to a secluded cabin well after playing a professor's recording of passages from the Necronomicon, things start to conjure up. After his girlfriend is turned into a deadite and Ash is on the brink of insanity, the professor's daughter and a group show up to the cabin. Basically, all hell breaks loose throughout the movie and it's a movie that will make you gasp, laugh, and so what the hell?
Henrietta: Someone's in my fruit cellar! Someone with a fresh soooul! (IMDb)
This cult classic is one that everyone should see, actually the whole series is something to watch, its mix of horror and comedy is pure genius, though the first one is a lot darker than the others. So "Evil Dead II," is today's pick for 31 days of 80s horror on Netflix.
