Today's horror movie pick for 31 days of classic horror is, "House of Dark Shadows." Dark Shadow fans this one is for you and especially for you if you like the movie. Dan Curtis, the creator of the show also directed the movie. The same cast comes in the picture and it's a creepy little vampire flick. The movie came out in 1970.
The movie is about Barnabas Collins getting released of his 'prison' by Willie Loomis who probably wished that he hadn't done that! Anyway, Maggie Evans is the girl who looks just like his lost Josette, so he does what any vampire tries to do, is woe her in being bride. There is no Victoria Winters in the movie but you have many of the same characters like Dr. Julia Hoffman, Carolyn, Roger, David, and other characters from the show.
Anyway while the show is pretty creepy with it's overly Gothic tones (since it is a Gothic Soap Opera) the movie gets to be a little bloodier and show a very evil side of Barnabas. Though in the show he does do some dastardly deeds but they got a little more away with the movie.
So tonight before bed rent "House of Dark Shadows," for $2.99 and by the way it's a 24 hour rental on Amazon. That's today's pick for 31 days of classic horror, a movie based on a classic TV show.
