Hollywood weddings normally come with outlandish price tags. From the dress, to the food, to the exotic flowers, to the fancy decor, and any atypical additions, these over the top weddings can make the average person feel ill. When most celebrities say their I Do's they aren't going to settle for much less than spending at least a million dollars on their nuptials. According to Cost of a Wedding, the average ceremony costs somewhere in the $25,000- $26,000 ball park. However, according to Dax Shepard during his Monday, October 28 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, he and Kristen Bell's ceremony was far from over the top. In fact, they were no where near the average cost.
Shepard, 38, dished that he and Bell, 33, only spent $142 on their big day. Shepard's wedding was a far cry from Kimmel's lavish wedding, so of course he had to poke some fun at him.
"I'm a frugal person. Your wedding, when I was there — thanks for having me — there were helicopters overhead," the Parenthood actor said in reference to Kimmel's fancy July wedding to Molly McNearney in Ojai, California. "It felt like an episode of 'M*A*S*H. ... Not that I was counting your money, but I was counting your money because it was flying out the windows. They were setting it on fire at the place."
"We all appreciated it," Dax, who attended with his wife, continued, "but I made a mental note when I watched that. I thought: I'm going to go a different route. So we went to the Beverly Hills Courthouse and — all in, with fuel to get there — $142 out the door."
What's more? Shepard didn't even get himself a wedding band. He however did get one for his new bride. We can assume that it most likely wasn't included in the $142 spent, but if Bell didn't require a lavish wedding, perhaps her ring is remotely humble? Shepard may however change his mind based on Kimmel's suggestion. The host, who bought his band (as well as a replacement … already!) for about $300 at Costco, said he would take Dax ring shopping at the wholesale store.
