On February 11 & 12, the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center will present successive performances of “Pop - Ping - Purr - Tink,” a unique dance event pairing dancers from Sarasota-based Moving Ethos Dance Company and Fort Myers-based Dance Bochette with a visuall assist by Olympic artist Liston Bochette.
Founded in 2008, Moving Ethos uses nontraditional spaces to deliver their message that dance can and should exist anywhere and that nobody should be excluded from the powerful impact that movement holds. In "Pop - Ping - Purr - Tink," the nontraditional space will be the Grand Atrium of the Art Center, and Moving Ethos artistic directors Courtney Smith Inzalaco and Leah Verier-Dunn will utilize it to present a series of duets ranging from comical to aggressive to subtle and intimate, showing their range of ability and skill.
Dance Bochette is a studio in downtown Fort Myers that has specialized in dance excellence since 1951. A former member of the Mark Morris Dance Group, founder Alyce Bochette brings classical dance to the forefront of the Grand Atrium stage as she presents two works from her repertory, a ballet waltz inspired by the music of Tchaikovsky and a classical modern dance set to the solo piano music of Grieg, Schubert and Brahms.
Visual artist, five-time Olympian, and Art of the Olympians director Liston Bochette adds a photo journey of his drawings depicting “Cellular Life from Conception to Termination” and the music of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon to take the audience into the world of creation.
