Davis and White reclaim their World Championship title

Meryl Davis and Charlie White had an incredible undefeated season culminating with a gold medal at the 2013 World Figure Skating Championships. Their captivating passion, innovative lifts, amazing unison and overall quality, makes them undeniably the best ice dancers in the world.

"At the end of our programs if Charlie and I don't feel mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausted, we're not doing our jobs correctly," Davis said. They certainly did their job correctly today as they poured their heart and soul onto the ice for all to see.

There is no better place for skaters to be than at the top of their game going into an Olympic season. Davis and White won the silver medal at last year’s World’s, but have not won gold since 2011.

From the beginning it was obvious that the battle for gold was between the Canadian team of Virtue and Moir, and the Americans Davis and White. This rivalry has been ongoing, especially since these teams train together. Today Davis and White finished with a 4.52 lead, which is fairly significant in the world of ice dancing. The tension between these two teams has no sign of letting up as the Olympic Games quickly approach. It will be an exciting showdown next season for sure.

Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir settled for the silver medal after completing a dramatic presentation of Carmen. They skated with passion and excitement as they performed before their family and friends.

Russia’s Ekaterina Bobrova and Dmitri Soloviev, who skated with power and speed, earned themselves the bronze medal, which is their very first time medaling at the World Championships.

US Team, Madison Chock and Evan Bates, skated their way into 7th place, while teammates Maia Shibutani and Alex Shibutani landed right behind them in 8th place. Both teams skated beautifully and earned three spots for the US Ice Dancing Olympic Figure Skating Team.

Ice dancing has made such strides over the last few years, especially for the US and there is so much to be proud of. Meryl Davis and Charlie White have set the bar high for the rest of the world and for themselves. One can only imagine what they will come up with for next season.
