On Sep. 16 News.com reports that the celebrity wedding planner, David Tutera, and his almost ex-husband Ryan Jurica have decided to separate their twins as apart of their divorce. While many find this "Parent Trap" scenario to be less than perfect for their tiny babes, some are unsure if David could keep both of the children even if he wanted because he's not the other twin's father, paternally speaking.
When Tutera and Jurica decided to have children, they both fertilized an egg for insemination of a friend that agreed to be their surrogate. The twins have the same maternal DNA and different fathers. David Tutera fathered a daughter named Cielo while Ryan Jurica bore a son named Cedric. While the couple has chosen to split up the twins as if they were furniture, Tutera has told many television talk show hosts about their choice;
"I have no right for my daughter to not know her brother. If they shared the exact same DNA, which they don't, we wouldn't have split them up. I have every plan for them to be in each others lives but right now my job is to get through a divorce and guide my daughter the best I can. I don't think I have a legal right to have custody of her brother since I provided no DNA in his creation."
It sounds as if there may be a legality in all of this instead of just a matter of angry parents. David Tutera also claims that once he and Ryan Jurica can get to a peaceful place then they can start talking about visitation of the twins.
