David Strathairn to join 'Godzilla'

Variety learned yesterday that David Strathairn (TV’s unjustly cancelled “Alphas”) is in talks to join the reboot “Godzilla.”

He would be joining Aaron Taylor-Johnson (“Kick-Ass”), Elizabeth Olsen (“Old Boy”), and Bryan Cranston (“Saving Private Ryan”), and the in-negotiations Juliet Binoche (“The English Patient”) as a military figure, but not much else is known about his character.

The story is said to center on a soldier and involve at least two monsters in addition to the iconic titular creature itself.

He is pretty terrific as people of power in the government so I can see him playing a role similar to the one he had in “The Bourne Ultimatum.”

With such a quality cast coming together, the incredible Frank Darabont (“The Walking Dead”) re-writing the script, and Gareth Evans (“Monsters”) directing we are sure to be in for the monster mayhem we have always deserved.
