David Price campaigns in 4th District with Rep. Gwen Moore of Wisconsin

David Price campaigns in 4th District

As the countdown to Election Day 2010 becomes just days and weeks (2), and not months, local candidates are running long and hard in their districts.   Members of Congress, state legislators, local officials and challengers on the November ballot are out from sunrise to sunset (and well beyond) to attend meetings with voters and their volunteers.

Don Mial (D), a candidate running for Wake County Commissioner, says he has put over 50,000 miles on his car just getting to events and out to meet with voters in his race for the 1st District Wake Commissioner seat.

One tactic to gain attention and to get media coverage is to bring in well-known politicos from out-of-state for Congressional races.  Rep. David Price (D-NC4) sent emails to his supporters late last week announcing a visit from  Rep.Gwen Moore (D-Wisconsin).

In a phone interview Monday Price said that Moore’s visit yesterday was brief (just 24 hours), and it was planned on short notice.  Congresswoman Moore attended a gathering of Price’s precinct workers and canvassers in Orange County. Congressman Price and Congresswoman Moore also attended a luncheon for women in Durham, which he described as a great event.

“The thing about Gwen is she’s one of these people with contagious enthusiasm,” said Price. “We’re working very hard to thank our volunteers and to encourage them to do even more.”  Price is hoping Moore’s enthusiasm will help with this.

Price looks to ramp up GOTV in Fourth District

Asked how Moore’s race allowed her to take time to come to NC, Price responded that while some races in Wisconsin are very tight, her race is not very close.  She came because Price believes voters are “now much more aware of the 2010 election than they were previously, and they are learning more about my opponent [B. J. Lawson (R)].

Price continued, “However, B. J. is so extreme, some folks have trouble believing how extreme he is.  The work my people are doing to support me in [“Get out the Vote”] is my district is very important.”

David Price is running scared and resorting to pathetic tactics and smear campaigns. Lots of people support B.J. Lawson and his ideas, so once again Price alienates and patronizes the voters - the hardworking people who don't want our bankrupt government to control everything. Time for Price to retire!

Price has been in office too long and has little to show for it, and takes credit where he shouldn't. He's clearly desperate with his attacks and lies, because he knows he's going to lose to a much better candidate.

We know Price follows Pelosi's lead and votes in the best interest of her district nearly 99% of the time. Now, he's bringing in a representative from Wisconsin to tell how much he's helping her cause. What would it take for Price to take the "extreme" position of upholding the US Constitution, which he took an oath to protect, and to put the people of North Carolina and mainstreet America first?

I cannot say if Price is "running scared." He did not seem so in phone call yesterday. Plus he had just picked up the endorsement of the Durham Herald, an important one for his race this year.

It would be nice if any of the Republican candidates would respond to my requests for interviews. I have been asking BJ and Renee for over a month to talk to me. So far, no repies.

Durham Herald-Sun Endorses Price for Congress
    The Herald-Sun - OCTOBER, 18, 2010
The Durham Herald-Sun today endorsed Rep. David Price for re-election to North Carolina's 4th District seat in Congress. In an editorial announcing the endorsement, the paper writes: "The Herald-Sun strongly endorses Price for his voting record and for his thoughtful positions..."

(Price campaign note: This issue highlights just how out-of-step Republican B.J. Lawson is with the needs of the Triangle. Federal budgeting is about setting priorities, and unfortunately Lawson's priorities include eliminating the Department of Education and medical and research grants.

This last item is puzzling for a Physician and medical engineer.

Thanks for giving me a good reason to vote for BJ Lawson. Elimination of the Department of Education is ESSENTIAL if we are t o avoid collapse of the currency due to excess debt (which will inexorably lead the federal government to print excess money unless spending is reined in). The total federal debt has gone from a worrisome ten trillion dollars to an unsustainable thirteen trillion is just two years!

Fifty years ago there was no federal Department of Education, as this was considered to be solely a state and local responsibility. Yet educational results were better then. The federal government's education bureaucracy does little more than squander money, while not educating a single student. It should be axed.

It sure looks like there may be an upset in NC District 4!
