Three days after Joan Rivers walked off of a CNN interview, David Letterman turned the tables on Rivers. During an interview with Rivers on “Late Night” on Tuesday, Letterman stood up, took off his jacket, and marched stage right – right off the stage. In typical Rivers form, she didn’t skip a beat. She looked back over her right shoulder to see if the talk show host was coming back. When she realized that he had actually walked off and wasn’t coming back for a time, she took over and interviewed herself in Joan Rivers-fashion. According to a Yahoo! News report on Wednesday.
After saying to the audience that she’d just take over and talk to herself, Rivers turned from side to side in her cushy interviewee’s chair and asked herself questions. Looking to the right, she asked herself a question. Then she’d turn left and answer it. Her questions were typical of the type of trash talk Rivers says when she’s talking about others – which is her comedic schtick. Her first question to herself was “How’s your sex life, you old bitch?”
Prior to Letterman’s walking off, he asked Rivers about the CNN interview, according to the New York Daily News. Likely refusing to give the CNN interview any publicity, she said she didn’t know the interviewer’s name. Then she said that the interviewer was being very nasty, judgmental, and negative. When Rivers was talking nasty herself about Depends – the adult diaper – that’s when Letterman decided to poke fun at Rivers by walking out of the interview as she had done days before. Rivers is doing the talk show circuit to promote her latest book, “Diary of a Mad Diva.” To see the CNN interview in which Rivers walked off last Saturday, click here.
