David Letterman wants the world to know that the controversy between him and Jay Leno didn’t happen when he was passed over for the Tonight Show. The late night talk show sat down with Oprah Winfrey to talk about his life and he shared details about Jay Leno never heard before. On Thursday the show posted a sneak peek of David Letterman’s interview and it’s safe to say fans are going to be tuning in to hear what he has to say.
“He has a way … he’s an unusual fellow. I’ve never met anyone quite like Jay,” said David Letterman. “And I will say, and I’m happy to say, that I think he is the funniest guy I’ve ever known.”
While the appealing details of his funny side as a comedian definitely are a common ground for the two, it appears that David wasn't upset at Jay Leno after getting passed over for Johnny Carson’s job on the Tonight Show.
“We were always friends before all of this happened,” said David Letterman. While Jay Leno and David Letterman haven’t been friends over the years, it appears that something else happened to make the two question the relationship that they once had. Dashing any hopes of being friends in the future, Letterman made it clear there wouldn't be any friendship in the future because of other issues.
