David Hasselhoff to leave America's Got Talent

People.com is reporting that, after four years filling the position of judge for America’s Got Talent, David Hasselhoff is resigning from his position.

Let me be the first to say: Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

In an exclusive statement to People, Hasselhoff said “I am proud that I was part of making America's Got Talent the number one rated show for the past four summers. It's been a rewarding experience and now I'm thrilled to be able to follow my dream to do my own TV show, which will be announced very shortly.”

Hasselhoff added, “I want to thank my friend, Simon Cowell, and everyone at NBC and Fremantle for the opportunity for four great years.”

While it is mortifying to hear Hasselhoff attribute the success of America's Got Talent to his own input, this is balanced out by the Hoff finally acknowledging that the job which he did poorly and often expressed great amounts of hatred for was very much a blessing for him.

Details of Hasselhoff’s new project have not been released. In fact, as of this moment, the only known confirmation of the existence of such a project has come by way of the Hoff himself.

America’s Got Talent will open its first open call process at the Los Angeles Convention Center on January 23rd. No names have been cited as potential replacements, but NBC sources have already stated they will be looking for a new judge when AGT resumes in the Summer. Whether this means Hasselhoff will remain during the open calls or will see an intermittent in his place at the open calls is uncertain.
