Can you picture Batman or (Patrick) Bateman playing Steve Jobs? David Fincher apparently can and is very interested in getting the Welsh actor to portray the Apple co-founder for his possible upcoming biopic project.

According to The Wrap on Thursday, the question of whether Fincher will even direct the movie hinges on Bale, 40. Fincher is in talks to possibly direct the film and reportedly will only take the job if Bale signs on for the lead role. Fincher's not the only one who has thought about getting Bale to star, as others on the Internet have noticed his resemblance to both a younger and older version of Jobs.

He's previously been called a "strong contender" for the part, even when it was announced that Ashton Kutcher would be taking on the role.

The film will be produced by Sony Pictures and has been written by Aaron Sorkin, whose most recent project is HBO's The Newsroom. Sorkin also won an Oscar for writing 2010's The Social Network, which Fincher directed.

Production is expected to begin sometime before the end of the year or possibly early next year. A rep for Bale has not commented on the matter. The American Hustle actor recently finished wrapping the Ridley Scott-directed Biblical epic Exodus, set to be released in December. Fincher's latest project, the adaptation of the hit book Gone Girl, is currently in post-production.
