On Monday, June 2, David E Cowen will be the featured guest for the Nokturne First Monday Reading Series at 8:30 p.m.
Cowen, a trial attorney by trade who practices law in Galveston, Texas, is also the author of the poetry collection “Sixth and Adams,” published by PW Press in 2001. A Houston resident, he earned his B.A. in English from Sam Houston State University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston Law Center. He is married with two sons.
His previous work has been published in various online journals, including Gumball Poetry, Wired Hearts, Eclectica, The Cynic, and Cosmic Debris. He has also been published in print journals from Sam Houston State University, Stephen F. Austin University, George Mason University, amd the University of Texas at Edinburg (formerly Pan American University). Cowen’s poetry was featured in the Canadian Broadcasting Company’s radio program "Outfront" in a 2005 tribute on 9/11.
Cowen is a member of and was an attendee at the Houston Poetry Festival, the World Fantasy Conference, and the Austin International Poetry Festival. He is also the President and a lifetime member of the Gulf Coast Poets Chapter of the Texas Poetry Society. He is an affiliate member of the Horror Writers Association.
Nokturne is located at 17062 Saturn Lane in Webster at 8:30 p.m. After Cowen reads his poetry, there will be an open mic for attendees.
