David Cassidy ordered into alcohol rehab after latest DUI

On March 24, former “Partridge Family” teen heartthrob, David Cassidy, now 63-years-old, pleaded no contest in a Los Angeles courtroom to driving under the influence back in January, and was ordered by the judge to enter alcohol rehab for three months.

CNN reported that the “I Think I Love You” warbler will also “pay fines and take part in a nine-month alcohol education program,” plus serve five years of probation.

Cassidy was arrested on the evening of Jan. 10 and charged with DUI after police stopped him for making an illegal turn not too far from the Los Angeles Airport.

Turns out, Cassidy had just left a previous rehab stint when he was stopped for drunken driving last January. He was reportedly doing well without drinking, until getting “stressed out” over a legal dispute he went through while in Los Angeles regarding profits from his former hit TV show, “The Partridge Family.”

Cassidy’s manager, Jo-Ann Geffen, said:

"He was in Los Angeles to attend depositions by Sony Pictures Television, respondents in a lawsuit filed by Cassidy in 2011 over what he claims are monies long due him from 'Partridge Family' merchandise, home video, etc."

"After attending his and his manager's depositions, it appears as if the pressure led to a brief relapse."

His DUI in January marked the singer’s third since 2011.

His two previous DUIs occurred in August 2013 in New York and November 2010 in Florida.

Cassidy, who portrayed Keith Partridge on TV, was born to celebrity acting parents Jack Cassidy and Evelyn Ward in 1950. In his 1994 autobiography, “C'Mon, Get Happy,” Cassidy described his father as an alcoholic and one who suffered from bipolar disorder.

During the time “The Partridge Family” ran on TV from 1970 – 1974, Cassidy turned his popularity from that show into a hugely successful solo career, performing at sold out concerts and embarking on his own recording and singing career.
