David Cassidy was arrested for DWI in upstate New York on Aug. 21. According to ABC News, Cassidy was arrested on such charges for the second time... just after midnight. Cassidy was sent to Rensselaer County Jail but he eventually made bail and was released. He is due to appear in court on Sept. 4.
Cassidy was arrested back in 2010 for DUI. That charge got his license suspended for 6 months. He was also on probation for more than a year. Since this is his second offense in less than 5 years, a judge probably isn't going to be as lenient.
David Cassidy's DWI charge could have him facing jail time. More than likely, however, he is going to lose his license for at least one year and be put on probation. He may also have to pay a fine, take driver safety courses, and/or do community service. His punishment could also be a mixture of all of these things.
Cassidy's arrest has resurfaced the discussion about celebrities insisting on drinking and driving. Any one of them could afford to take a cab or call a car but instead they choose to drive while intoxicated putting their lives and the lives of others in danger. Some would go so far as to say it's stupid, really.
Hopefully David Cassidy will see his last DWI ever.
