David Bowie drops 'Where Are We Now?' ballad on his birthday

Rock legend David Bowie unexpectedly dropped a new tune on Tuesday to celebrate his 66th birthday with fans. With the arrival of his new single, “Where Are We Now?,” also comes news of Bowie's first studio album in ten years entitled “The Next Day.”

Bowie quietly released the music video for “Where Are We Now?” on his birthday, People.com reports. The contemplative ballad is featured in a gloomy clip. A projection of Bowie sings the new track while its deep lyrics playing across the screen.

Pop star Lady Gaga shared her thoughts about Bowie's new song on Twitter, writing, “laying in bed high listening to Bowies new song. A moment of bliss I never thought Id have again. Listening to new bowie for the first time.” It's definitely a surprise release for the latest generation of music fans.

His “The Next Day” album will be released on March 12.
