LOS ANGELES – Soccer star David Beckham is set to launch a new bodywear collection in collaboration with American Idol creator Simon Fuller.
Beckham has been the face and body of Emporio Armani underwear for the past four seasons, an experience to which he considers a catalyst to wanting to start his own line of bodywear.
"I can't wait to show people my collection," he says, "Although I'm not sure my mum will be too happy seeing a billboard image of me in underwear again."
Beckham has been extremely successful representing Armani in the past. "Emporio Armani told me that their gross turnover in 2007 was around (16 million euros) $22.7 million and after the campaign in 2008 it went up to (31 million euros) $43.9 million in 2008. It proved to me that there is a real market for good-looking, well-made men's bodywear,” Beckham told Women’s Wear Daily.
